How to Measure a Zipper

Type of Zipper Measurements
Closed-End Zipper (CE)

Length (L) – From the top edge of the Slider to the bottom edge of the Bottom Stop.

Tape Ends (L1) – From the Top Stop to the tip of the Cut End.

Bottom Tape Extension (L2) – From the Bottom Stop to the tip of the notches of the Cut End.

Zipper with Double Slider (Head to Head)

Length (L) – From the upper edge of one Bottom Stop to the lower edge of the other Bottom Stop.

Tape Ends (L1) – From the upper Bottom Stop to the tip of the Cut End.

Bottom Tape Extension (L2) – From the edge of the Bottom Stop to the tip of the Cut End.

 Zipper with Double Slider (Back to Back)

Length (L) – From the upper edge of one Slider to the lower edge of the other Slider.

Tape Ends (L1) – From the Top Stop to the tip of the Cut End.

Bottom Tape Extension (L2) – From the Bottom Stop to the tip of the Cut End.

 Open-Ended Zipper (OE)

Length (L) – From the upper edge of the Slider to the bottom edge of the Box.

Tape Ends (L1) – From the Top Stop to the tip of the Cut End.

 Two-Way Zipper

Length (L) – From the upper edge of the Slider to the bottom edge of the Reinforce Tape.

Tape Ends (L1) – From the Top Stop to the tip of the Cut End.

Tolerance of Dimensions during Manufacturing
